The 2009 Honda Pilot Is Here!

Honda introduces various new additions for the 2009 version of one of its frontline models, the Pilot. This year's model feels and looks more like an authentic SUV with its styling, new features for the interiors, and more on offer with regard to fuel efficiency, safety, and convenience.

The eight-passenger seating has become more accessible, especially in the third row. This row has been given added cargo space, legroom, and occupant space to make all seating positions comfortable. The platform has been redesigned for a more refined handling and better ride comfort.

The 2009 Honda Pilot comes with a 3.5-liter, i-VTEC, V6 engine that delivers 250 hp at 253 lb ft of torque across its LX, EX, EX-L and Touring trims. The Honda Pilot comes with a five-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control. This feature enables better handling during uphill or downhill situations.

With its four-wheel independent suspension; Hill Start Assist; Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management; and Variable Torque Management 4-wheel drive system; the 2009 Honda Pilot ensures a smooth run and good use of the engine.

The Pilot carries in it several amenities and conveniences. The wide center stack and center console emphasize the interior style. All conveniences such as climate-control, navigation, and entertainment are placed strategically for easy access. Other easy-to-use features include Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® technology; Honda DVD Rear Entertainment System;
Honda satellite-linked navigation system™ with voice recognition and rearview camera; rearview mirror with rearview camera display; tri-zone automatic climate control system with humidity control and air filtration; audio system; and USB audio interface.

All-New 2009 Honda Fit Big on Style and Refinement, Small on Price and Fuel Consumption


The completely-redesigned 2009 Honda Fit is set to go on sale August 26 with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $14,550, plus a destination and handling charge of $670, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. The Fit Sport, equipped with additional premium features, is also set to debut with a starting MSRP2 of $16,060, plus destination and handling.
The Fit is designed to lead the subcompact segment with a quality feel and a multi-functional interior. The Fit has become more refined for 2009 with a sportier demeanor through improved suspension, steering and body rigidity enhancements; an improved rear Magic Seat®; and a high level of standard safety equipment, including the addition of the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure and front seat active head restraints. A new, more powerful 117-horsepower, 1.5-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder
engine further improves the Fit's high-revving, fun-to-drive character.

Dimensionally compact on the outside with an overall length of 161.6 inches, the interior provides a surprisingly spacious passenger volume of 90.8 cubic feet and a rear cargo volume of 20.6 cubic feet. An improved rear Magic Seat provides one-motion dive-down functionality without having to remove the rear seat head restraints to folds flat into the floor, creating a rear cargo volume of 57.3 cubic feet. The engine produces 117 horsepower at 6600 rpm and 106 lb-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard and a 5-speed automatic transmission is available. Steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters allow for manual gear selection on the Fit Sport equipped with the available automatic transmission. The front MacPherson strut suspension and torsion beam rear suspension settings are tuned to provide a sporty, solid and dynamic driving experience. . The standard anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) uses 10.3-inch ventilated discs in the front and 7.9-inch drums in the rear.

2009 Honda Civic

All 2009 Civic sedan and coupe models boast redesigned exterior styling features, including a new front bumper cover and grille design and new headlight and taillight color combinations, featuring clear turn indicator lenses with amber bulbs. New alloy wheel designs are introduced on the Civic EX, Civic EX-L and Civic Si models, along with the addition of fog lamps for the Civic Si model.
Interior enhancements come by way of technology-friendly additions. Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® is added to Navigation-equipped models and a USB Audio Interface added to Civic EX, EX-L, Hybrid and Si models. The Civic Hybrid gains the option of leather-trimmed seating surfaces with heated front seats and side mirrors. New for 2009, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®), also known as electronic stability control, is now standard on the Civic EX-L and Civic hybrid, in addition to the Civic Si. The entire line-up maintains a standard array of safety technologies including Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure; side curtain airbags; driver's and front passenger's side airbags with a passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS); and dual-stage, dual-threshold driver's and front passenger's airbags (SRS). Active front seat head restraints are designed to help reduce the likelihood of neck injury in the event of a rear collision. Standard active safety features include an anti-lock brake system (ABS) and electronic brake distribution, front seatbelts with an automatic tensioning system, and a pedestrian injury mitigation design incorporated into the front exterior of the vehicle. Driver and front passenger seatbelt reminders and daytime running lights are also standard equipment.
Four engine and four transmission choices range from a 140-horsepower, 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine (Civic DX, DX-VP, LX, EX and EX-L), with either a 5-speed manual or an available 5-speed automatic transmission, to a 197-horsepower, 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine (Civic Si) with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Civic Hybrid is powered by a 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) gasoline-electric hybrid technology to enhance both fuel economy and performance, and is equipped with a continuously variable transmission. The Civic GX is powered by a dedicated natural gas version of the Civic's 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine - and is equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Built on a high-rigidity unit-body platform, the Civic is designed to deliver precise, sharp and refined handling performance with its MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension.
The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System2, available on Civic EX, EX-L, Si and Hybrid models, has a 6.5-inch motorized display that opens and closes for access to the internal single-disc CD player, and a digital audio-card reader that can play MP3 and Windows Media®3 Audio (WMA) files from CompactFlash®4 cards (via a PC card adapter). The navigation system features more than 7 million points of interest and the voice activation can control the navigation menus and the audio system, along with entering city and street names. New for 2009, the system includes Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, a wireless telephone interface that works with Bluetooth-enabled mobile telephones for hands-free operation via steering wheel-mounted controls.
Auxiliary audio input jacks are standard equipment on Civic LX and above trim levels and allow for portable music device playback through the audio system. The Civic LX Coupe has a six-speaker 160-watt audio system with a CD player (four speakers for the LX sedan). All audio systems are capable of playing MP3 and WMA formatted CDs. Standard Speed-sensitive Volume Control (SVC) automatically adjusts the volume based on vehicle speed. Audio displays include CD/MP3 text readout, and all coupes (except for the DX) plus the Civic Si Sedan provide a customizable welcome screen (exclusively on models without the available navigation system).
Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe (1.8-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine)
Providing Civic buyers with two new sedan options, the 2009 line-up presents the all-new Civic DX-VP and Civic LX-S. The Civic DX-VP Sedan adds air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD audio system and an auxiliary input jack, in addition to the standard 140-horsepower 1.8-liter SOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission (5-speed automatic available), power windows, 15-inch steel wheels with covers and P195/65R15 tires.
Standard features on the Civic LX include air conditioning, cruise control, power door locks, 16-inch steel wheels with covers, P205/55R16 tires, keyless entry, a 4-speaker 160-watt AM/FM Audio System with CD player (MP3/WMA enabled), auxiliary audio input jack, center console with sliding armrest, progressive blue illumination instrument panel meters, auto up and down driver's power window, and a folding rear seat.
In addition to the well-equipped Civic LX features, the Civic LX-S Sedan upgrades to alloy wheels, exclusive sport-trimmed black cloth seats with synthetic suede bolsters and silver stitching, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rear deck spoiler and a chrome exhaust finisher.
The Civic EX Sedan and Coupe include newly-designed alloy wheels, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, a one-touch power moonroo, ambient console lighting, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and the availability of the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Activation, which also includes XM Satellite Radio5. The Civic EX-L also comes standard with a leather-trimmed interior, heated seats and heated door mirrors to the Civic EX list of features. The Civic EX and EX-L Coupe exclusively feature a 7-speaker with subwoofer AM/FM audio system with CD player (MP3/WMA enabled). All Civic sedans receive a sporty three-spoke steering wheel for 2009, along with a rear chrome garnish bar above the license plate.
Civic Si Sedan and Coupe (2.0-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine)
The Civic Si Sedan and Coupe serve as the performance cornerstone for the Civic line-up with a 197-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC 2.0 liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine mated to a close-ratio, 6-speed manual transmission. A helical-type, limited-slip differential enhances traction in high-performance driving situations. The Civic Si sport suspension adds firm spring, damper and stabilizer bar tuning along with exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels and high-performance tires. Exclusive exterior features include a rear wing spoiler (low profile on the sedan) and Si emblems. The sports-oriented interior adds firmly-bolstered, performance-oriented seats with red fabric stitching and synthetic suede trim. Standard fog lights and a restyled alloy wheel design are new for 2009.
Civic Hybrid (1.3-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine with IMA)
The Civic Hybrid with advanced IMA hybrid technology achieves an EPA-estimated city/highway fuel economy of 40/45 miles per gallon6 and is updated for 2009 with the addition of Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and the availability of leather-trimmed interior which includes heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated side mirrors. The Civic Hybrid is certified by the California Air Resource Board (CARB) as Advanced-Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV). A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard equipment. The Civic Hybrid can deactivate all four of its cylinders and operate using only the electric motor in certain low-speed cruising situations. Power for the Civic Hybrid is provided by a 1.3-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine and a 15 kilowatt electric motor, producing a combined 110-horsepower @ 6000 rpm and combined 123 lb-ft. of torque @ 1000-2500 rpm.
Manufacturing The majority of Civics are produced and assembled in the United States and Canada using domestic and globally sourced parts. Civic Coupe and Civic Si models are solely produced and assembled at the Honda of Canada Manufacturing plant in Alliston, Ontario. Civic Sedan models for the U.S. are primarily produced and assembled at the Honda of America Manufacturing plant in East Liberty, Ohio. Civic Sedans are also produced and assembled at Honda of Canada Manufacturing in Alliston, Ontario. Some Civic Sedans and all Civic Hybrid models are produced and assembled in the Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Suzuka, Japan, manufacturing facility. In fall 2008, Honda's new manufacturing plant in Greensburg, Indiana, will begin Civic production and will have an annual capacity of 200,000 units.

2009 Honda Model Changes

The most significant news for Honda in the 2009 model year includes the introduction of an all-new Pilot this Summer and an all-new Fit in October, along with significant enhancements and styling changes to the Civic, Element and Ridgeline.

2009 Honda Civic
All Civic models receive freshened exterior styling with enhancements inside and out that include new colors and the introduction of available tech-friendly features like Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and a USB Audio Interface (available, Civic EX and above). An exclusively-equipped Civic LX-S includes alloy wheels, black sport cloth-trimmed seating surfaces, rear decklid spoiler and a chrome exhaust finisher. The Civic DX Sedan becomes available in a Value Package (VP) that adds A/C and an audio system. 2009 Honda CR-V
The best selling SUV in the country, the popular CR-V retains identical features and specifications for the 2009 model year vehicle as three new colors become available.

2009 Honda Accord
The Honda Accord was all-new for 2008 and continues unchanged for the 2009 model year. All horsepower and torque ratings for 2009 V-6 models have been revised.
2009 Honda Fit
The Honda Fit debuts as an entirely redesigned model for the 2009 model year. New features and specifications include:

2009 Honda Odyssey
The 2009 Honda Odyssey EX-L and Odyssey Touring (equipped with the i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management as standard equipment) have revised horsepower and torque ratings of 244 horsepower and 245 lb-ft. of torque (previously 241 horsepower and 242 lb-ft. of torque). The 2009 Honda Odyssey LX and EX (equipped with VTEC V-6 engine) retain the same rating as 2008 with 244 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. The 2009 Odyssey EX-L receives a power tailgate; EX-L with Navigation and the DVD Rear Entertainment System add Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® (same as 2008 Touring). All other features and colors remain unchanged from the 2008 model year. Of minor note, the Odyssey Touring emblem has a new appearance (revised font).
2009 Honda Pilot
Completely redesigned for 2009, the Honda Pilot offers an authentic SUV exterior design while further enhancing on-road refinement and increasing interior functionality. A modern, stylish and spacious interior provides room for up to eight passengers while also providing more space behind the third row for items as large as a mid-size cooler or a folded stroller. New standard engineering features on all models include a more-powerful, 250 horsepower, 3.5-liter i-VTEC V-6 engine with the latest generation of Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) that works in 6-cylinder mode for performance and 3- or 4-cylinder mode for fuel efficiency. Additional new standard equipment includes a Class III trailer hitch, hill start assist, larger 17-inch wheels and tires (+1-inch) and a lift-up glass hatch as part of the tailgate. New interior features include a tilt and telescopic steering column, enhanced audio systems and much more. The Honda DVD Rear Entertainment System is available on the Pilot EX-L and Pilot Touring. The new Pilot Touring edition introduces upscale features that include a power tailgate, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and a USB Audio Interface. Remote entry, power windows, power locks and cruise control are standard on all models.
2009 Honda Ridgeline
The Honda Ridgeline has proven itself as one of the most innovative members of the half-ton pickup truck segment with its In-Bed Trunk™ and fully-independent suspension. As part of its confident truck credentials, the Ridgeline is one of only a few half-ton trucks with four wheel drive that are recommended to haul a half-ton of cargo in the bed with two passengers inside. Plus, its refined suspension design and highly-rigid unit body construction contribute to comfortable and engaging road dynamics – a rarity in the pickup world. For 2009, the Ridgeline undergoes a significant makeover with bolder exterior styling, new and updated interior features, and an enhanced engine design. The 250 horsepower 3.5-liter VTEC V-6 engine receives three more horsepower and a broader torque band at lower RPMs primarily through the addition of a new camshaft profile and higher-flowing dual-stage intake manifold. Revised transmission gear ratios are engineered to take advantage of the additional engine torque for more responsive acceleration during normal driving or while towing. A tow hitch becomes standard equipment on every 2009 model to accommodate the pickup’s 5,000-pound towing capability and includes a 7-pin wiring harness on the Ridgeline RTS and RTL. Inside styling updates include revised three-dimensional-style gauges, a new steering wheel design, and enhanced HVAC, audio, cruise and headlight controls. New technology-friendly features include the addition of Bluetooth HandsFreeLink on the Ridgeline RTL equipped with the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, a 115-volt power outlet on the Ridgeline RTL, MP3/auxiliary input jack on the Ridgeline RTS and above, and the audio systems become MP3/WMA compatible. New safety features include active front seat head restraints and daytime running lights.
2009 Honda S2000
The 2009 Honda S2000 and S2000 CR remain identical to the 2008 models.
2009 Honda Element
The Element receives a major update for 2009 with significant exterior styling changes while also adding new and improved interior features. Additional details will be released in the fall.

Customer Letter

Mr Stewart,

I wanted to let you know how wonderful DAVE in your service dept at Rock Hill is. I drive 85 miles one way to work each day. And getting to your dealership for service and getting to work on time is a challenge. I have come to your service dept. twice recently, and both times I was dealt with professionally and promptly by DAVE. I advised him that I needed to be at work by 10am, and both times I was right on time. This is the first time I have owned a Honda , and it will not be my last. I have bought allot of new cars in the past years-with other company's , but never had this great of service, from Dave and all of your staff! Please commend Dave for all of his hard work-he deserves it!
