Honda’s “Grr – Hate Something – Change Something” is ‘Commercial of the Decade’

Honda is on an award winning spree. Its “Grrr - Hate Something - Change Something” commercial has won the Adweek’s prestigious ‘Commercial of the Decade’ award. Honda Cars of Rock Hill, the leading dealership for Honda new vehicles and used cars, near Charlotte, NC, feels the ad appreciated by one and all already drives home the message in a creative and effective way.

"Grrr – Hate Something – Change Something ”, created by Wieden and Kennedy, is a unique advertisement showcasing an unlikely mix of cute animals frolicking in a CGI Eden, flying diesel engines and the gravel-on-velvet voice of Garrison Keillor with some great music and special effects. Honda scored over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony to bag this coveted award. The prime message of this ad is if you hate something then make a move to change it as sung (and whistled) by Garrison Keillor and demonstrated by super-cute animals in a rainbow-colored meadow. It asks some simple questions such as ‘Can hate be good? Can hate be great?’ The advertisement also proceeds to provide answers to these basic questions in affirmative.  The ad has been a huge success and it showcased Honda’s prowess as a versatile carmaker very well. Visit Honda Cars of Rock Hill to see Honda’s brand new 2010 cars and take advantage of various special offers while driving home your favorite Honda car.

Help us Support Cell Phones for Soldiers.....Cell Phones for Soldiers is a great program and we want to help in their mission to collect one million phones this year which is why we’re asking our employees and those within our communities to donate any cell phone, new or used, to our dealership. “Over the past few year...s, we have been amazed by the generosity of others. But, we have also seen the need to support our troops continue.” says Brittany Bergquist, Cell Phones for Soldiers co-founder. “It is easy for Americans to make a small sacrifice of support by donating a cell phone, and providing families with a much-needed connection to their loved ones overseas.”

About Cell Phones for Soldiers: Cell Phones for Soldiers was created by Brittany & Robbie Bergquist of Norwell MA. After reading a story about a soldier who ran up a huge phone bill calling home from Iraq, these two teenagers decided to help out. They started by opening an account with $21.00 of their own money. They are collecting cash donations and old cell phones. The cell phones are recycled for cash and the proceeds are used to buy prepaid calling cards for our soldiers serving in the Middle East. To date, they have provided more than 60 million minutes of calling time through 2009. Cell Phones For Soldiers is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Their efforts have motivated people and businesses around the country to donate to this worthy cause. Their goal is to provide every US soldier with a way to call home for free. Cam Stewart, HCRH GM, makes the 2010 Teacher of the Year Presentation

Our GM, Cam Stewart was privileged to present Rock Hill's Teacher of the Year, Julia Marshall with a $600 gift card to the Grove Park Inn (from the Greater Charlotte Automobile Dealers Association) and some flowers today at Oakdale Elementary. Principal McVann was great in helping us coordinate a perfect time and keeping our visit a secret. Ms. Marshall was thrilled with the token of appreciation! HCRH gave her an “event” with Homer the dragon mascot of the Charlotte Knights. It just so happens that Oakdale’s mascot is a dragon and Ms. Marshall’s son plays professional baseball (and at one time with the Knights) so it was a perfect fit for her!
Julie Storm from CN2 covered the event. Congratulations to Julia Marshall and Thank YOU for all you do!!!
