A Message from our new Sales Manager, Andy Hicks.....

I am very excited to announce that I have joined the team at Honda Cars of Rock Hill located in Rock Hill, SC. This dealership is part of the Hendrick Automotive Group which is based out of Charlotte, NC. Honda Cars of Rock Hill has a unique approach to selling cars; we treat our customers like they are family. We are a low pressure dealership and do everything we can to make the car-buying experience enjoyable for our customers.

Here is a little bit about me and how I ended up in the car business……

While riding with my Dad to Cornelius Elementary School each morning in 1984, we would pass one traffic light, a small hardware store, the Ham and Eggs and that was about it. Exit 25 did not exist and The Peninsula was barely a two-lane road off of Hwy. 73. My sister and I grew up on a small cove on Lake Norman where we spent countless hours swimming, boating and skiing from sun up to sun down.

At summer’s end in 1997, I met my beautiful wife, Sabrina who was a finance assistant at a local car dealership. She recruited me to try my hand at selling cars. My first two months were a little rocky.….I believe I sold four cars! I enjoyed the experience and worked harder at selling cars. Eventually, I joined the Keffer Auto Group where I spent the next ten years working in sales, finance and sales management. Sabrina and I are now happily married and have two beautiful daughters, Ella and Kate and reside in Davidson, NC.

You can reach me at andrew.hicks@hendrickauto.com or call me toll free at 866-554-2223. I look forward to helping you and your family.

The All New, Redesigned 2013 Accord coming this Fall!!

Honda today revealed the first images of the much anticipated all-new 2013 Honda Accord Sedan and Accord Coupe, set to go on sale this fall. The most sculpted Accord ever delivers an even more spacious and luxurious passenger cabin wrapped in an upscale, sophisticated exterior designed to stand the test of time.

The 2013 Accord’s styling is expressive, sophisticated and premium. Starting in the front, a bold new grille imparts a distinctive and dynamic tension that complements the powerful look of the hood’s multiple styling lines. A strong side character line flows through the door handles and flairs upward toward the rear of the vehicle to further convey a sense of motion. A deep contour in the rocker panel firmly grounds its visual presence to the road and smartly turns upward to convey a sporty attitude. In the back, the inward slope where the fenders taper into the trunk and C-pillars is designed to convey a powerful, athletic stance from the rear.

True to the spirit of Honda and every Accord before it, the ninth-generation embraces a customer focus from the inside out. Smart interior packaging allows for increased passenger and cargo space in both the sedan and the coupe, while the overall exterior lengths are noticeably shortened, contributing to a sportier driving character and easier parking. An expansive greenhouse and generous rear seating area provide excellent levels of visibility and comfort for the driver and all passengers.

“This car is the most sculpted and the most dynamic Accord yet,” said Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of product planning for American Honda. “Following Honda’s long-held philosophy of ‘man maximum, machine minimum,’ the beautiful exterior evolved from a focus on interior space and the needs of the people inside it.”

On the road, an overall aerodynamic shape combined with low-drag exterior surfaces including nearly flush windshield glass, flush-mounted windshield wipers and careful under-body tailoring promise enhanced fuel efficiency. Premium details like available LED daytime running lights, headlights and taillights hint at the sophisticated technology and luxury available inside.

More information about the all-new 2013 Accord will be revealed later this fall.

Honda's Commitment to Safety

Honda has a long history of leadership in the development and application of advanced technologies and designs to enhance the safety of all road users, including automobile occupants, motorcycle riders, and pedestrians. The company operates two of the world's most sophisticated crash test facilities and is responsible for numerous pioneering efforts in the areas of airbag technology, collision compatibility and pedestrian safety. This commitment to safety is rooted in Honda's goal to be a company that society wants to exist, and it complements the company's leadership in reducing vehicle emissions, improving fuel efficiency and advancing alternatives to gasoline.

Comprehensive Approach to Safety

Honda takes a comprehensive approach to vehicle safety, seeking to provide enhanced levels of occupant protection and help with crash avoidance in all Honda and Acura passenger vehicle designs, while also making an active commitment to enhance safety for the occupants of other vehicles as well as pedestrians.

•The company's 'Safety for Everyone' initiative, undertaken in October 2003, helped lead the industry to the increased application of standard safety features. In 2006, the company fulfilled the core part of the initiative, to equip virtually all Honda and Acura vehicles with a core suite of advanced safety features as standard equipment, regardless of vehicle size or price.

•Today, the company is looking to further advance its commitment to safety with the introduction and broad application of new safety technologies and driver assistive features for improved visibility:

New safety technologies

•Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning technologies will be applied to virtually all Honda and Acura models within the next several years, beginning with the all-new 2013 Accord, launching in the fall of 2012.

•Side curtain airbags with a wider deployment profile to help mitigate possible ejection will be introduced in the 2013 Accord and applied to additional models within several years.

Crash Test Ratings

Honda has been a consistent leader in achieving top-level safety ratings for its vehicles in both government and private industry crash test ratings.

•For model year 2012, American Honda has 13 IIHS 'Top Safety Pick' models (9 Honda and 4 Acura), including 10 of the 18 new models that were added to the IIHS' list of 'Top Safety Pick' models for 2012.

•The 2011 Accord sedan was the first vehicle to earn a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score and a 5-star rating for all three underlying categories (frontal, side crash and rollover) under the NHTSA's safety ratings system that was modified starting with the 2011 model year.

•The 2011 Odyssey is the first and still the only minivan to achieve a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score from the NHTSA and a "Top Safety Pick" rating from the IIHS.

•In model year 2009, prior to the implementation of new, more stringent safety ratings by the NHTSA, Acura was the first-ever automotive nameplate to earn a "Top Safety Pick" rating from the IIHS and a five-star crash safety rating from the NHTSA for ALL models in its lineup.

Crash Compatibility and the ACE™ Body Structure

Honda has played a leading role in addressing the issue of compatibility in frontal collisions between vehicles of different size, mass and ride height.

•In 2005, Honda introduced the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure on the Acura RL to enhance occupant protection in a frontal collision between vehicles of different sizes and ride heights.

•19 of the 21 Honda and Acura vehicles sold today – representing more than 95% of American Honda's new-vehicle sales in the U.S. – incorporate the ACE body structure.

•The second generation ACE body structure, ACEII, features reinforced front frame members for further enhanced frontal crash energy management.

Pedestrian Safety

As part of its commitment to improving safety for all road users, Honda has also led the U.S. automotive industry in the application of features designed to reduce injuries to pedestrians in a collision, such as collapsible hood hinges and breakaway windshield wiper pivots, with a focus on reducing severe head injuries, which account for 60 percent of pedestrian fatalities.

•In advancing its designs, Honda first sought to better understand the dynamics of pedestrian collisions with the development of POLAR II, widely recognized at the time of introduction as the world's most advanced pedestrian crash test dummy. Tests conducted with POLAR II led to the development of the above noted features.

•In September 2008, Honda introduced its third-generation POLAR III test dummy with the enhanced ability to measure crash forces in the lower back and upper leg areas.

•More than 9 million Honda and Acura vehicles purchased by U.S. customers, including all model year 2008 and newer vehicles (except the S2000 – discontinued for MY2010) feature pedestrian injury mitigation features and designs.

Advanced Safety Testing

Honda operates two of the world's most sophisticated crash test laboratories for development of improved safety designs and technologies.

•The company's Tochigi, Japan, facility was the world's first indoor, multi-directional car-to-car crash testing facility. The Tochigi facility has played a critical role in the development of enhanced designs for occupant and pedestrian safety as well as vehicle-to-vehicle compatibility.

•Honda R&D America's Raymond, Ohio, development center performs advanced testing on all U.S.- developed models. The facility features the world's first crash test sled with the ability to simulate the forward pitching motion of an automobile in a frontal collision, allowing for more accurate simulations of vehicle crash dynamics. The Ohio facility also features one of the world's highest resolution impact barriers – a 100-ton moveable crash test block with reconfigurable sides and 450 load cells – enabling precise measurement of the distribution of impact load forces on a vehicle to aid in the development of more advanced vehicle designs.

Industry-Leading Air Bag Technologies

Honda has long been a leader in introducing the industry's most advanced air bag systems, including:

•The first front passenger airbag to deploy vertically from the instrument panel, rather than directly at the passenger.

•Occupants in the outboard seating positions of every row of every new Honda and Acura vehicle are protected by side curtain airbags.

Other Pioneering Efforts

Honda has been a leader in developing next generation safety technologies, including:

•A Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) – introduced on the 2006 Acura RL – as well as continuing research toward future collision avoidance systems and designs for automobiles and motorcycles.

•The world's first fully-integrated rider airbag system for a production motorcycle – introduced on the 2006 Honda Gold Wing touring motorcycle.

2012 CR-V EX-L AWD vs. 2013 Ford Escape SEL 4WD

Top Compact Crossover!

2012 CR-V EX-L AWD vs. 2013 Ford Escape SEL 4WD

2012 Best Affordable Compact SUV for Families: 2012 Honda CR-V
USNews.com

“This is the vehicle [CR-V] that virtually defines its class….”
Automobile Magazine

According to a Consumers’ Favorites poll conducted by Edmunds.com, the Honda CR-V is consumers’ #1 choice in Compact Crossovers.

In a comparison of compact SUVs, including the 2012 CR-V and the 2013 Ford Escape (May 2012), Automobile Magazine noted about the 2012 CR-V: “This is the vehicle that virtually defines its class….” It’s not surprising, therefore, that the new 2013 Ford Escape is so similar to the CR-V in many respects, including its overall length and width, being offered exclusively with 4-cylinder engines, and offering a choice of front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configurations.

Beyond the similarities, however, CR-V offers customers many advantages over the 2013 Escape, including greater utility, greater driver and passenger comfort, the assurance of top safety ratings and unique safety features, a reputation for reliability, and greater overall value.

Top Safety Ratings/Unique Safety Features

The 2012 CR-V earned a 5 Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It earned five stars in the frontal crash and side crash categories, and four stars in the rollover category.

The CR-V is a 2012 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK with “Good” performance in front, side, rollover, and rear tests.

The 2013 Ford Escape has not yet been tested by NHTSA or IIHS.

The 2013 Ford Escape does not offer anything comparable to CR-V’s Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) and Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure.

Superior Quality and Reliability

Honda is the highest ranked non-premium nameplate in the 2012 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality StudySM (IQS) and the 2012 CR-V earned the best score in the compact crossover SUV category. That means the 2012 CR-V was more trouble-free than competitive compact SUVs during the initial ownership period.

Greater Overall Value

When comparably equipped, the 2012 CR-V EX-L AWD is priced (MSRP) $2,515 less than 2013 Ford Escape SEL 4WD (1.6L EcoBoost I4). Features like hill start assist, rearview camera, and front active head restraints are standard on CR-V, not available on Escape.

The 2012 CR-V EX-L AWD has a higher ALG residual value than the 2013 Escape SEL 4WD after 60 months.

Greater Utility

CR-V provides 2.9 cubic feet more cargo volume and 3.1 cubic feet more maximum cargo volume than Escape

CR-V’s rear seats fold flat; Escape’s rear seats do not.

“…there are enormous storage bins everywhere… the rear seats fold flat in the most breathtakingly simple mechanical origami… no motors are involved, just a gentle tug on one of the two handles mounted cleverly (and accessibly) by the rear hatch. In one motion, the seat bottoms flip up and forward, then the seatbacks flop down. The CR-V might be the same size as these other two vehicles [2013 Ford Escape and 2013 Mazda CX-5], but no one told its interior – cargo room dwarfs the other two vehicles with the seats up or down. And the liftover height is impossibly low.” Automobile Magazine (May 2012)

Greater Driver and Passenger Comfort

CR-V provides 3.4 cubic feet more total passenger volume that is reflected in more front- and rear-seat shoulder room and rear-seat legroom for greater passenger comfort.

“Not only does the Ford [Escape] trail its other rivals in shoulder room front and rear, but the sloped center stack intrudes noticeably into the driver’s footwell. As a result, [the driver’s] right leg will remain in constant contact with hard plastic, fighting to get her leg far enough to the right to reach the offset and partially obscured gas pedal.” Automobile Magazine (May 2012).

Honda Delivers First 2013 Fit EV

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., delivered the first all-electric 2013 Honda Fit EV to a couple in Southern California, the company announced today. The 2013 Honda Fit EV is the latest in Honda's diverse and expansive portfolio of alternative-fuel vehicles, earning a combined adjusted Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mile-per-gallon-equivalency rating of 118 MPGe1*, and an unprecedented low consumption rating of just 29 kilowatt hours (kWh) per 100 miles.

Ventura County, Calif., residents, Matt and Becky Walton, took delivery of their Honda Fit EV at the Woodland Hills Honda dealership located north of Los Angeles. The couple was the very first registrant to sign up to lease the Fit EV at www.FitEV.Honda.com and plan to use their vehicle as a daily commuter car. Matt and Becky Walton have a long history of owning Honda vehicles, beginning with a Honda N600 sedan and a Honda Z600 coupe in the 1970s and now a Honda Odyssey which will be used as a secondary car.

"It's truly an honor to take delivery of the first Honda Fit EV and participate in the advancement of all-electric vehicles in the real world," said Mr. Walton. "The Honda Fit EV is not only a sustainable and energy efficient transportation option with the highest fuel-efficiency rating of any EV, but it has the added bonus of being fun-to-drive and can fully recharge from empty in less than three hours."

Addressing a critical step in advancing electric vehicles in the real world, American Honda initially will certify Honda dealers in select California and Oregon markets as Fit EV dealers to provide an excellent customer experience for Fit EV customers' sales and service needs.

The Fit EV will be available for lease-only in key markets starting in California and Oregon, after which availability will expand to East Coast markets in early 2013.
Customers interested in leasing or learning more about the Fit EV are encouraged to sign up at http://www.fitev.honda.com/

Honda is the Highest Ranking Brand for the second consecutive year!

Honda is the highest ranking mass-market (non-premium) brand for the second consecutive year and fifth among all industry nameplates in J.D. Power and Associates' Initial Quality Study (IQS) for 2012, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced June 20th. Honda auto plants also earned two plant assembly line awards for quality performance, with Line 3 of the Honda plant in Suzuka, Japan earning the top Platinum Award. The Marysville, Ohio auto plant Line 1 earned the Silver Plant Quality Award in North America.

The Honda and Acura brands achieved the best scores in their histories. The Honda brand held onto its position as the highest performing mass-market brand by improving on its industry-leading score of a year ago, and for the fourth straight year overall. The Acura brand also improved and ranks sixth among all nameplates. The all-new 2012 Honda CR-V earned the highest score in the compact crossover SUV category, while five other Honda models finished second in their respective segments. In fact, the Accord (midsize car), the Odyssey (minivan), the Crosstour (midsize crossover SUV), the Ridgeline (midsize pickup) and the Fit (sub-compact car) finished just behind the segment leader. Additionally, the Pilot ranked third, just behind the Crosstour, in the midsize crossover SUV segment. All of these models except the Fit are manufactured in North America using domestic and globally sourced parts. The IQS ranks vehicles based on a measure of reported problems per 100 vehicles (or PP100).

"For the second consecutive year our performance demonstrates our consistent commitment to deliver the highest quality for our customers," said Tetsuo Iwamura, president & CEO of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "Thanks to the efforts of Honda associates in R&D, in manufacturing and in sales, we were able to continue to improve quality performance in this key industry ranking." In the manufacturing area, 2012 marks the second consecutive year that a Honda plant has earned the top assembly line award globally. The 2012 J.D. Power and Associates study recognized the Suzuka, Japan plant, Line 3, as the only global Platinum Award, for production of the Honda Fit and CR-Z. The Marysville, Ohio plant, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this fall, earned a Silver Plant Quality Award for production of the Honda Accord and Acura TL and RDX. In 2011, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC earned the IQS Platinum Award. The J.D. Power and Associates' Initial Quality Study serves as an important tool for consumers in evaluating the quality and design of new vehicles. Since 1987, J.D. Power and Associates has been surveying owners to measure the initial quality of new vehicles.

The 2013 Honda Fit EV, has received a combined adjusted Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mile-per-gallon-equivalency rating of 118 MPGe, and an unprecedented low consumption rating of just 29 kilowatt hours (kWh) per 100 miles. With an EPA rated annual fuel cost of only $500, the fun-to-drive 2013 Honda Fit EV can help consumers get more miles for each charging dollar. Full EPA MPGe ratings1 for the Fit EV are 132/105/118 city/highway/combined*.

With such an efficient drivetrain, the Fit EV’s 20-kWh lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery provides the capacity to earn an EPA combined city/highway estimated driving range rating of 82-miles, allowing the Fit EV to surpass the EPA efficiency and range ratings of the Ford Focus Electric (105 MPGe, 76-mile range), Nissan Leaf (99 MPGe, 73-mile range), and Mitsubishi i-MiEV (112 MPGe, 62-mile range). The Fit EV’s exceptionally efficient design – encompassing everything from savvy powertrain design, weight-conscious engineering and effective aerodynamics – makes the most of the Fit EV’s smaller battery. Additionally, the Fit EV battery can be recharged in less than 3 hours from a low charge indicator illumination point when connected to a 240-volt circuit.

“Just as important as the industry-leading fuel-efficiency and fast recharging time, as a Honda, the 2013 Fit EV will be an absolute kick to drive,” said Steve Center, vice president of the American Honda Environmental Business Development Office.

The Fit EV’s 92 kilowatt (123 horsepower) coaxial electric motor generates 188 ft-lb of torque, and is teamed to a chassis with a fully-independent suspension and a driver-selectable 3-mode electric drive system adapted from the CR-Z Sport Hybrid.

Honda debuted the 2013 Fit EV at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show and announced plans to begin leasing the battery-electric commuter vehicle to customers in select California and Oregon markets during the summer of 2012, followed by an East Coast rollout in 2013.

What are the advantages to taking my car back to the dealership for service?

Q. What are the advantages to taking my car back to the dealership for service?

A. There are some serious advantages to taking your car back to your dealer for service. Here are just a few reasons why your dealer might be your best choice.

Expertise. No one knows your car like a dealer technician. Dealer technicians (and the rest of the staff too), usually undergo extensive continuing education to keep them up to date on the latest techniques and vehicle enhancements. Also, dealers tend to pay their mechanics well, and expect a level of excellence in return.

Specialization. Your dealer’s mechanics specialize in your car. The world of auto repair isn’t a one-size fits all world. Knowing the ins and outs of your particular car are a big advantage most dealers have to offer.

Depth. At your dealership, there will be multiple levels of knowledgeable people from technicians to supervisors and managers who oversee the quality of the work. You can always escalate an issue if you need to.

Convenience. Many dealers offer shuttle services or loaner cars for you to use while your car is being worked on. And, often, their waiting rooms are places you’re actually willing to sit down in.

Warranties. If your car is still under warranty, your dealer will repair your vehicle for free. Most dealers also offer nationwide manufacturer-backed guarantees for the work they do. That means, if you’re out of town and have a problem, you can probably find an in-network repair shop to handle the repair for free.

Recalls. Dealers are also the first to know if there’s a part recall and you’ll have the problem taken care of quickly and painlessly.

The dealer you bought your car from is answerable to their manufacturer. They need to provide quality service in order to stay in the family. It’s in their best interest to keep you happy. A happy customer is a repeat customer. And, if you’re happy, you’ll probably tell your friends and good word of mouth is the best advertising money can’t buy.

Our Service Lounge Amenities: Gourmet Keurig Coffee, Hot Chocolate and Tea, Fresh baked goods & snacks, children's play room, large flat screen TV, local newspapers and current magazine collection, Wi-Fi, complimentary shuttle service, vending machines and Free exterior car wash with every service.

2012 Honda CRV vs. the 2012 Toyota Rav4

Safety
Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Honda CR‑V deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The Honda CR‑V’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Rav4’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

The Honda CR‑V’s blind spot mirrors use wide-angle convex mirrors mounted in the corner of each side view mirror to reveal objects that may be in the driver's blind spots. The Rav4 doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver's blind spots.

Compared to metal, the Honda CR‑V’s plastic fuel tank can withstand harder, more intrusive impacts without leaking; this decreases the possibility of fire. The Toyota Rav4 has a metal gas tank.

Both the Honda CR‑V and the Rav4 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and available all wheel drive.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) performs roof strength tests. In that test the Honda CR‑V earned the top rating of “Good” because its roof supported over four times the Honda CR‑V’s weight before being crushed five inches. The Rav4 was rated lower at “Acceptable.”

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates the general design of front seat head restraints for their ability to protect front seat occupants from whiplash injuries. The IIHS also performs a dynamic test on those seats with “good” or “acceptable” geometry. In these ratings, the Honda CR‑V with standard seats is safer then the Rav4.

Overall Evaluation:

2012 CRV - Good

2012 Rav4 - Marginal

Dynamic Test Rating:

2012 CRV - Good

2012 Rav 4 - Marginal

Seat Design:

2012 CRV - Pass

2012 Rav 4 - Fail

Neck Force Rating:

2012 CRV - Low

2012 Rav4 - Medium

Cargo Capacity
Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Honda CR‑V’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Rav4 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.
The Honda CR‑V’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The Rav4’s swing out door blocks loading from the passenger’s side.

Ergonomics
The Rav4’s standard power locks don’t automatically lock the doors. The Honda CR‑V’s standard doors lock when a certain speed is reached. This is an important feature for occupant safety. Locked doors are proven to open less often in collisions, and they are also effective in preventing crime at traffic lights. (The power lock’s automatic feature may have to be activated by your dealer.)
The Honda CR‑V’s standard power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Rav4’s standard power mirror controls are on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.
For greater rear passenger comfort, the Honda CR‑V has standard rear heat vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable. The Rav4 doesn’t offer rear vents.
With optional voice command, the Honda CR‑V EX-L offers the driver hands free control of the radio, climate controls, cell phone and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The Rav4 doesn’t offer a voice control system.

Brakes and Stopping
For better stopping power the Honda CR‑V’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Rav4.

Engine
The Honda CR‑V’s 2.4 DOHC 4 cyl. produces 6 more horsepower (185 vs. 179) than the Rav4’s standard 2.5 DOHC 4 cyl.

Fuel Economy

On the EPA test cycle the Honda CR‑V gets better fuel mileage than the Rav4.

2012 CRV 2WD - 23 city/31 hwy

2012 RAV4 2WD - 22 city/28 hwy

The Honda CR‑V outsold the Toyota Rav4 by 57% during the 2011 model year.

The 2013 Accord is targeted to earn top scores in both the federal government's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) vehicle evaluations.

Additionally, the Accord will be equipped with several new technologies to help improve the driver's visibility around the vehicle. The Accord will also receive a rearview back-up camera and an Expanded View Driver's Mirror as standard equipment.

Honda Commercial in the UK - All Physics

Read before watching....

If you thought that the people who set up a roomfull of dominoes to have them knocked over later was amazing, you haven'tseen anything yet. This is the new Honda commercial in the UK. There are nocomputer graphics or digital tricks in these images.

Everything that you see happened in real time exactly as you see it.
The recording required 606 takes and in the first 605 there always wassomething that didn't work. It was necessary for the recording team toinstall the set-up time after time and it took several weeks toachieve this effect. The recording cost $6 million and it took three months tofinish.
The duration of the video is only 2 minutes, but every time Honda showsthe commercial on British television, they make enough money to support anyof us for the rest of our lives. Also, this commercial has turned out tobe the most displayed in the history of the Internet.
Honda execs think that it will pay for itself simply because of the free showings.

There are only six Honda Accords built by hand and to the horror of Honda engineers, the recording team dis-assembled two of them for the recording.
Everything you see in the sequence (besides the walls, floor, ramp andthe untouched Honda Accord) is part of those two automobiles. The voice isthat of Garrison Keillor.

The commercial was so well received by Honda execs that their first comment
was how amazing the computer graphics were. They almost fell out of their chairs when told that the recording was realwithout any graphics manipulation.
